Modeling Attempt and Action Failure in Probabilistic STIT Logic
We define an extension of stit logic that encompasses subjective probabilities representing beliefs about simultaneous choice exertion of other agents. The formalism enables us to express the notion of ‘attempt’ as a choice exertion that maximizes the chance of success with respect to an action effect. The notion of attempt (or effort) is central in philosophical and legal discussions on respon...
متن کاملTemporal STIT logic and its application to normative reasoning
OATAO is an open access repository that collects the work of Toulouse researchers and makes it freely available over the web where possible. To cite this version : Lorini, Emiliano Temporal STIT logic and its application to normative reasoning. I present a variant of STIT with time, called T-STIT (Temporal STIT), interpreted in standard Kripke semantics. On the syntactic level, T-STIT is nothin...
متن کاملFrom Coalition Logic to STIT
STIT is a logic of agency that has been proposed in the nineties in the domain of philosophy of action. It is the logic of constructions of the form “agent a sees to it that φ”. We believe that STIT theory may contribute to the logical analysis of multiagent systems. To support this claim, in this paper we show that there is a close relationship with more recent logics for multiagent systems. W...
متن کاملInput/Output STIT Logic for Normative Systems
In this paper we study input/output STIT logic. We introduce the semantics, proof theory and prove the completeness theorem. Input/output STIT logic has more expressive power than Makinson and van der Torre’s input/output logic. We show that input/output STIT logic is decidable and free from Ross’ paradox.
متن کاملAttributing Distributed Responsibility in Stit Logic
One important function of logics of agency (Stit Logic, ATL, CL, Dynamic Logic) is to assess the validity of arguments whereby responsibility is attributed to, or denied by, individuals and groups. Indeed, the vocabulary and computational properties of such logic allow us to express and reason on what agents did, or what empowered them to do (either following a strategy as in ATL or not). It is...
